Gender Equality for a Sustainable Future

Equitable and sustainable development can’t be achieved by denying fundamental rights to women and girls. The patriarchal society has always denied equal rights to women; the discrimination starts with the orthodox belief system that women are inferior to men and should be confined to the four walls of their home.

The spike in gender-based violence reported amidst the COVID-19 pandemic is testimony to the fact that women are vulnerable to domestic abuse. Violence perpetrated on women and girls is a human rights violation.

According to the UN, one in three women worldwide experiences physical or sexual violence mostly by an intimate partner.

For the last 75 years, CASA has been consistently working to promote gender equality, gender justice, gender equity among marginalised communities by running several women-centric programmes.

  • Our programmes have promoted women’s participation and leadership in the decision-making process of panchayats and municipalities.
  • We make sure that women get equal representation in our all programmes
  • We provide education through our bridge school – through this programme, we aim to enroll students who drop out because of a lack of financial resources.
  • For the socio-economic empowerment of underprivileged women, we strive to provide several livelihood opportunities: mushroom cultivation, goat rearing, lac cultivation, poultry farms, petty shops etc.
  • We also provide vocational training like tailoring, computer operation etc.
  • Among the local we promote the formation of Self Help Groups (SHGs) of women — the group is constituted to help each other and avail government schemes.

Your continuous support encourages us to work for the empowerment of women and girls of marginalised communities.
