Gender Spotlight: 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence

CASA is gearing up to observe 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence. To be held between November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) and December 10 (Human Rights Day), the initiative is an annual civil society campaign to highlight the critical issue of gender-based violence (GBV) around the world. Initiated at the Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991, the 16 Days of Activism initiative calls for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls each year and is supported by United Nations agencies across all domains.

CASA is organising an educational webinar for all zonal staff on gender-based violence, exploring the issue in its various contexts that are often overlooked or not considered as GBV, including GBV faced by LGBTQIA+ communities. Further, we will identify key GBV-related issues in our programme areas and create awareness surrounding them. In solidarity with survivors and victims of GBV, all CASA staff will be encouraged to wear orange in line with the 16 Days of Activism theme “Orange the world: End violence against women now!”
